Pleasing sounds to the Lord.

Lord, make me twice as good as I am today tomorrow, and may my brother be ten times better.

Gracious God, make us this week to appear in your sanctuary with joyful singing and would you bless us out of Zion.

My God, who is a consuming fire, give me the mindfulness to remember the blessing you’ve given me as I serve you and others with music. May I not forget.

My God, bless this practice time more than the work I put into it can yield, and make it more successful than I deserve.

My omnipresent Father, may I have the wisdom and discipline to see everything I do as a performance to you.

1 Cor. 1:31 - Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Ps. 56:13 - For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.)

My Father, give me enough musical challenges so that I’m not bored and not too much that I’m overwhelmed.

Generous Lord, may I carry the weighty blessing of working as a musician with gladness understanding the heaviness of it is good.

Eternal Lord, give me eyes to see the progress I’ve made. Make me thankful for all my growth that you’ve provided. Keep me patient as I grow, and I may I not concern myself with how frustrating or embarrassing the mistakes ahead of me could be.

Blessed Jesus, give my voice strength to proclaim your praises loudly. Give my spirit fervor when it comes to singing of your mighty triumph. May I not grow wearying of make music unto you.

Kind Savior, practice is difficult. The learning of music is challenging. The language is complicated and mastering it takes a lifetime. May I have the strength to stay the course knowing the truth in Romans 5: 3-5… And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Lord, raise the desire in me to be a strong musician. Let that ambition not be marked by “lazy wants.” Give me an apt understanding of cause and effect in work. May I practice diligently. May I sacrifice now so I can enjoy the gratifications later.

Wise God, grant me wisdom to understand how Christ tends to music.

King of Praise, let me be a father/mother of many skilled musicians who strongly minister with their songs.

Lord of Hosts, bless me with a heart full of adoration towards you, so that I may properly enjoy and work at music. Keep music from becoming an idol in my life. May my diligence for excellence not hinder a vibrant relationship with you.

Father, teach us to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2). In all things Christ was strong and joyful, so too, in all our tasks, especially music, lift up joyful praises to you.
